Air India is the third largest airline in India that is a top airline for both international and domestic destinations. History
Air India started initial routes using post-war aircrafts and since then changed into Boeing and Airbus which are now modern luxury aircrafts. It was founded by J.R.D Tata who was a business tycoon from Tata Sons the airlines was initially referred to under the name Tata Air Services and later changed its name to Tata Airlines. The year 1962 saw the launch of Air India was the first airline to be all-jet. Air India launched a low-cost subsidiary that offered customers low-cost flights that linked diverse cities in India as well as in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
Alliance
Star Alliance was founded in May 1997. It’s one of the largest international airline alliances. The headquarters are at Frankfurt am Main, Germany Star Alliance currently has 27 member airlines with more than 670 million passengers each year. “Flying Returns” (Air India’s frequent flyer plan) lets guests accrue and exchange miles on the Star Alliance’s airline partners. Lounges can be accessed by passengers based upon the kind of ticket, frequent flyer status as well as the category of travel.

Frequent Flyer Programme
Flying Returns is the first Frequent Flyer Program that lets members to not only earn FR points for booking flights in India but also AI tickets bought in any other country with any currency. Members can access lounges as well as separate check-in counters on certain domestic airlines. Members earn FR points through certain non-airline partners.

Air India’s motto of “Food for a Maharaja on your plate’ means that customers with the option of pre-booking special meals that are designed specifically for flights that fly internationally.
